The Continuing Agricultural Education Center is hosting a one day workshop involving production of quality dried fruits and vegetables like pineapples, mangoes and bananas. The workshop has been funded by Food and Nutrition Solutions, Makerere University, Ministry of Trade Industry and co-operatives having 17 participants and seven(7) facilitators from Luwero, Mbale, Kayunga and Kangulumira with the objective of; 1. Introducing Novel Technology(Refractancy Window Drying Technology). 2. Learning how to use Good Manufacturing Practices(GMP) in fruit drying. 3. To interest participants in using the Refractancy Window Dryer(RWD) equipment.
Expectations of the participants vary from individual to individual and they are; 1. To learn about hygiene of the drying process and products. 2. Maintainence of the dryers and knowledge on how to use them. 3. Ensuring food safety.
